Giant groups from the US, Switzerland and Canada have applied to invest more than 6 billion USD in luxury eco-tourism complexes on Phu Quoc island, the southern Kien Giang province, according to the provincial People's Committee.

The province has so far agreed in principle to allow the Trustee Suisse from Switzerland to carry out a feasibility study of the island's Rach Tram area for a 2 billion Euro project.
The 200 ha "Asian Pearl" is planned to have a financial center, and a residence and tourism complex including hotels and villas.
The province has also granted an investment licence to the US-based Rockingham Asset Management for a 1 billion USD recreational resort.
In late 2006, Kien Giang province signed an MoU under which a US company will invest 2 billion USD in building hotels, a Las Vegas-styled casino, a resort, cinema complex and a high-class hospital on the island.
