ASEAN promoting the region as single tourist destination
Being a single tourist destination, member countries of ASEAN need to open skies, build up single-visa regime and improve infrastructure, Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong said on Jan. 30.

Friends from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Dear Ms  Ly,
Thank you so very much for making our holiday in Hanoi so enjoyable. You and Mr. Len arranged everything so perfectly that we just eat, shop, sleep and enjoy ourselves. It was our first trip to Hanoi and you make us feel so much at home.
Thank you so much.

Getting to town
In some big cities as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, visitors can get to the centre by bus.

* In Hanoi:
Airport Taxis charge a flat rate of US$ 10 (one-way) for cars from Noi Bai Airport to central Hanoi. The drive takes about 45 minutes. A minibus makes the trip for  US$ 4 per person.
Fare for buses No. 7 Kim Ma - Noi Bai and No. 17 Long Bien - Noi Bai is VND 5,000. There is a bus every 15 - 20 minutes.

* In Ho Chi Minh City:
A metered cab from Tan Son Nhat Airport to downtown costs around VND 50,000. The trip takes about 20 minutes.

Currency in Vietnam
The currency in Vietnam, the Dong (VND) which can not be purchased outside Vietnam, has coins. The current exchange rate is around VND15.590 to the US dollar. US dollars remain widely accepted at hotels, but you should have local currency tor use in taxis and shops. For exchanging into VND, go to big banks like ANZ Bank in 11 Me Linh Square., D.1, HCM City (Tel: 08.829 9319) or ANZ Bank, 14 Ly Thai To St., Hanoi (Tel:04. 825 8190). Some traveler cafes, jewelry shops provide exchange money service at higher rates, their advantage being that they stay open late and on weekends. ANZ and Vietcombank have ATM machines that dispense only dong. Do not accept torn or soiled bills as you may have trouble spending them.

Business hours
Government offices and museums open early, around 8am, and close between 4pm and 5pm. Avoid doing business from 11.30am to 2pm, when people are either at lunch or napping.
